5 Trends for the Perfect Thanksgiving Table Settings

Thanksgiving is a beautiful holiday. It’s a time to recognize all you are thankful for and a time to enjoy the company of your loved ones. This holiday is a favorite of mine, not only for the surroundings of good company and delicious food, but also because I love decorating for this special day!

Thanksgiving is already just weeks away, and hosting means more than cooking the turkey!  Hosting can sometimes bring about a bit of stress and hectic cleaning, but it also gives your family and friends an opportunity to be welcomed into your home and appreciate its unique beauty. Decorating for such a warm and meaningful holiday allows you endless opportunities for creativity. In light of one of my favorite holidays, here are six big trends (with photos from Pinterest as examples) for this year’s Thanksgiving table settings…

Accent Colors

1. Accent Colors

Traditional Thanksgiving colors are the classic and cozy reds, browns, oranges, and golds. These colors are timeless and perfect to continue decorating with this year. If you are looking to step out of the box, though, the top color trends to focus on are warm and cool blues, purples, greens, creams, and yellows. Before decorating, I recommend choosing a color scheme to work around to be sure your whole theme ties together perfectly.

2. Table Runners

Laying tablecloths is another tradition for the Thanksgiving table. They are trusted to protect from spills and add elegance to the scene. This year, however, table runners are taking the lead for the bigger trend. Whether using the runner with a tablecloth or without, the table runner is used as a way to spice things up and draw eyes to the center of the table.

Centerpieces

3. Centerpieces

Perhaps one of the most fun trends, incorporating centerpieces gives you a chance to get creative and really bring the WOW-factor to your table. This year, using a variety of different centerpieces that stand at different heights is “in”. Centering the table with a mix of candles, seasonal flowers, and pumpkins and gourds is going to add dimension to the table. If you have any decorations you’ve used for years, incorporate those too! Meaningful décor never goes out of style. Just be sure to leave plenty of room for all the scrumptious Thanksgiving dishes!

4. Layering Plate Ware

This is an old holiday tradition that just keeps getting more popular. The trend is the tradition, in this case! Layering placemats, plates, bowls, and napkins is really big this holiday season. Add a special touch of your own on the top layer, such as a place card or Thanksgiving quote cut out.

5. Set the Scene

After completing your Thanksgiving table, look around and set the scene. Incorporating
seasonal lighting, photos of family and friends, and other décor around the room can complete the look of your dining room and tie everything together. Personalizing your space to fit you and your design preferences is always the best way to successfully decorate without trying too hard.
